If your child has a life-threatening
allergy, or any
other condition doctors need to be made aware of, they must wear a medical
alert bracelet. If they have unusual medical concerns, ask your doctor
to write a detailed note regarding symptoms and treatment, and keep the
document with you at all times. (If you're traveling abroad have the note
translated into the appropriate languages.)
Your children may need shots
in order to travel to your planned destination. Visit the Center
for Disease Control web site for immunization recommendations. Depending
on the vaccine required, a full immunization regime may require many weeks
of treatment, so plan accordingly.
In addition, you need to
ensure that your child's vaccinations are regularly updated at their annual
medical checkup.
