To coin a phrase, editors
want a travel writer "to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life
and new civilizations, to boldly go where no one has gone before." But
you don't have to hop on the Starship Enterprise to find something new
and exhilarating. Excitement is about attitude, not locale.
