Wrap your cat in
a towel leaving his head exposed. This will help keep his paws confined
and thus keep from scratching himself and you.

Place your cat (in
the towel) on his back (at a level angle) on your lap. His head should
be at your knees facing you.

Place the palm of
your left hand on top of his head. Wrap your fingers and thumb on both
sides of his head. Your fingers and thumb should be holding his cheekbones.

Put the pill in your
right hand between the index finger and thumb.

With your left hand,
tilt your cat's head back so his nose points straight up. This should put
his neck in a straight line.

Now, with your right
hand use your free middle finger to gently pull down his jaw. Your left
hand should keep his nose pointing up.

With the index and
thumb of the right hand, drop the pill down towards the back of his tongue.
-
If the pill does
not fall down the throat, you may want to very gently push it down.
-
Close his mouth and
stroke his throat until you see him swallow. If he licks his nose, that
means he probably swallowed the pill.

Praise him lavishly.
Give him a treat.
